Back CII tie-up with Food World, Gati to provide relief Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Dec. 30 IN a unique effort to provide relief to tsunami victims, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII - AP) has joined hands with Food World, a retail chain, and cargo major Gati to collect and distribute clothes and utensils to the victims. A CII spokesman appealed to people to drop in their contributions in the form of clothes and utensils at 21Food World outlets in the twin cities. Gati would provide the logistics support. Donations would also be collected at CII's local headquarters, he said in a press release. Meanwhile, Gati announced that it would carry relief material free of cost to Port Blair from Chennai. Mr Manoj Kumar Agarwal, Head (Marketing) of Gati, told Business Line the two ships operated the on the Chennai-Port Blair sector would carry relief material transported by non-governmental organisations. He, however, said that the free-of-cost feature would not cover Government consignments. "Government cargo would attract regular tariff," he said. He said the Gati staffers had contributed a day's salary towards relief works.
