Letters to the Editor
Sir, Visits by VIPs to the site of disaster, along with large entourages, are more of a hindrance. All work comes to a grinding halt, and roads have to be cleared by the police who are taken away from more urgent duties such as preventing looting. The VIPs should be satisfied with aerial surveys.
B. Rathnakar Rai,
* * * Sir, It was disturbing to see reports that while concentrating on security to VIPs, the focus shifts away from swift disposal of decaying bodies and other important work. One hopes the gravity of the situation is realised.
