Criminal case registered

The Chilakalaguda police on Friday registered a criminal case against Benhar Dayakar who allegedly took Rs. 2 lakhs from a woman, M. Sujatha, 32, with false promises of marrying her. Sujatha was a divorcee. According to her complaint,Dayakar, who took Rs. 60,000 and Rs. 1.25 lakh and six tolas gold in the last few months, had been avoiding her. Sujatha charged that Dayakar and five of his friends beat her when she went to his flat in Padmaraonagar seeking repayment.

A 90-year-old man, Abbaiah, who was walking along the railway track near Lalaguda, died on Friday after a train hit him. The victim was a resident of Addagutta, the Government Railway Police said.

Stolen bikes

The Mangalhat police arrested two persons -P. Shiva Kumar, 22, and K. Vijay Kumar, 23, and recovered four stolen motorcycles worth Rs. 1.4 lakh from their possession on Friday, a press release said.

Spurious petrol seized

The Hyderabad Police Task Force (South) on Friday arrested a resident of Dabeerpura, Mohd. Waheed, 35, and seized 150 litres of spurious petrol from his possession, a pres release said.

Student dies

An intermediate second year student, Uma Maheswara Rao, 19, died on Thursday after a speeding van knocked down the motorcycle he was riding near Nizampet crossroads on the city fringes. The victim was a student of Wesley College in S.R. Nagar, Kukatpally police said.
