BELGAUM, JAN. 1. The Belgaum district in-charge and Minister for Agriculture Marketing, Prakash B. Hukkeri, has called upon doctors serving in government hospitals to be prompt while distributing free medicines to the poor. He was addressing a gathering of health officials/doctors after inaugurating a building for Karnataka Drugs Logistics and Ware Housing Society at the district hospital here on Saturday. Legislators Ramesh Kudachi and Vishwanath Mamni, the Deputy Commissioner, M. Maheshwar Rao, the Chief Executive Officer of the zilla panchayat, M.E. Shivalingamurthy, the District Surgeon, Ganiger, were present. He said the Government was spending large sums of money every year to provide free medicines to the poor visiting government hospitals. Therefore, it was the responsibility of the doctors to distribute the medicines promptly.
