Recruitment will be fair: APPSC chief

HYDERABAD, JAN. 1. The Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission chairman, P. Ramulu, has said all recruitment tests conducted by the Commission will be fair and transparent.

Speaking to reporters here on Saturday after calling on the Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, Mr. Ramulu advised the aspirants to prepare well for the examinations. "Merit and hard work alone would fetch rich dividends," he said advising aspirants not to give credence to the false promises of some unemployed youth.

He made it clear that the Group I main examinations would be fair and there was no scope for any doubts in the minds of the aspirants. "All talented candidates stand a good chance of securing jobs," he said, and pointed out that most of the successful candidates hailed from the rural areas.

3,500 posts at stake

Mr. Ramulu said the vacancy position in Group I services had been presented to the High Court and all posts would be filled as per rules. In all 3,500 posts for various categories are to be filled this year. This includes 800 additional posts for various specialisations. He said 300 engineering posts and equal number of posts for junior lecturers and 100 backlog posts for the SCs, STs and the physically challenged would be filled this year.

Mr. Ramulu said recruitment tests for vacant posts in Group I, II, III and IV would be conducted for the next two years. Efforts would be made to fill all vacant posts notified through the commission, he added.
