Three succumb to burns

Three of a family who suffered severe burns in an LPG cylinder explosion at Satyanagar in Lalaguda on December 28 died at Railway Hospital on Saturday.

While K. Krishnamurthy (36) and the couple's eight-year-old daughter Kavya died in the morning, his wife, K. Kiranmayee (28) died in the afternoon. The condition of three others -- Rajeshwari, Vijaya and an 18-month old girl -- who were injured in the explosion was stated to be critical.

Electrocuted

A labourer, P. Kumar (20) of Pedda Amberpet, died instantly after he suffered an electric shock under the Saroornagar police limits on Friday. It was learnt that Kumar was engaged in digging work on Dilsukhnagar road. The crowbar he was carrying came into contact with the electric transformer which resulted in the electric shock. The Saroornagar police registered a case.

Body found

The body of a 35-year-old unidentified man was found at Chaknawadi under the Shahinayatgunj police limits on Friday. He was clad in a blue shirt and white trousers. It was suspected that he might have died due to cold. The body was shifted to Osmania Hospital mortuary.

Suicide attempt

A woman reportedly administered sleeping pills to her son and later attempted suicide under the Santoshnagar police limits on Friday night. The police said that Naseem Begum administered sleeping pills to Abdul Wajid and subsequently consumed the pills herself. Her husband, Abdul Quayyum, who found them in an unconscious state, were rushed to Osmania Hospital where their condition was said to be stable. Naseem Begum resorted to the extreme step due to domestic problems, it was said. The Santoshnagar police are investigating.

Chain snatched

Two motorcycle-borne assailants snatched a 1.5 tola gold chain from a B.Tech student, V. Ramya Sameera, on the Osmania University campus last night. Sameera lodged a complaint with the police.

Man robbed

One person was robbed at knifepoint under the Punjagutta police limits last night. Miscreants stopped K. Chandra Reddy's auto near K.K. Towers at Begumpet, threatened him with knives and forcibly took away Rs.10,000 he was carrying.
