Back Naandi Foundation, Coke reach out

LENDING a helping hand to tsunami victims, Naandi Foundation has decided to set up community kitchens in Nagapattinam, Tamil Nadu.

The foundation, which runs a huge kitchen to cater to 1.5 lakh children every day in the twin cities, has deputed a team to the area, worst affected by tsunami last week. Besides, it is also distributing rations to the victims.

"We are working with the district administration to distribute rations," the foundation said here in a press release. Appealing to the people to contribute to the effort, it said a kit of one kg of dal, oil, sugar and salt cost Rs 100.

Meanwhile, Coca-Cola donated Rs 30 lakh to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund in Andhra Pradesh. Mr Vijay Bhasker Reddy, General Manager of Coca-Cola India, handed over a cheque on Monday to the Chief Minister, Dr Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

"We appealed to the Chief Minister to rehabilitate the tsunami-hit fishing community in Nellore and Prakasam districts," Mr Vijay Bhasker Reddy said in a separate release.

The Hyderabad-headquartered State Bank of Hyderabad said all its branches would accept cash donations to Prime Minister's and Chief Minister's Relief Funds. "
