Mumbai , Jan. 5 RELIANCE Infocomm has tied up with Internet portal indiatimes.com to provide SMS-based infotainment services for Reliance IndiaMobile (RIM) customers. Indiatimes' 8888 service, an SMS-based service, will allow for downloads of ringtones which include popular Indian and Western songs. Other downloadable multimedia content, contests and text-based services can also be accessed by RIM subscribers. "SMS-based value-added services and content from 8888 will benefit Reliance's growing pre-paid customer base," said Mr Mahesh Prasad, President, Applications and Solutions Group, Reliance Infocomm.Reliance's R-world services, currently offered free of charge to all RIM customers, will soon become paid services, said Mr Prasad. He did not specify a date for this.
