CHENNAI, JAN. 6. The coastal villages of Tiruvallur district, which were affected by the tsunami, were on Thursday sanctioned Rs. 6 lakhs for drinking water works. Besides the installation of handpumps and water tanks in villages, including Koraikuppam, about 18,000 litres of water was being ferried by boat to Pulicat. The Rural Industries Minister, B. Valarmathi, who inspected the water supply works in the affected areas, gave away provisions, clothes and Rs. 2,000 to 119 families.
