MADURAI: The officials of Koodankulam Nuclear Power Project in Tirunelveli district have donated Rs 3 lakh to buy land for those who lost their houses in the tsunami disaster.

The project Director, Mr S.K. Agrawal, on Wednesday handed over cheques for Rs 75,000 each to four parish priests of the badly affected coastal villages around the project site.

A survey carried out by the priests revealed that 336 families in these villages had lost their hamlets.

The employees of the nuclear project have mobilised a sum of Rs 1.20 lakh by contributing a day's salary towards a relief fund.

Fresseny, a French material supplier to the Koodankulam project has contributed Rs 3 lakh, sources said.
