Inspired by temples: An exhibition of Kosa saris from Rehwa
REHWA, A non-profit society, presents `Invocation', an exhibition of kosa tussar textiles, from today till January 15, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., at 7W, Ist Floor, Apparao Galleries, 7 Wallace Gardens, 3rd Street. The collection created by Mira Sagar of Rehwa is inspired by the forts and temples of Indore and comprises kosa saris in wild silk, tussar, tissue, natural colours and prints. The saris are handwoven by the weavers of Maheshwar. The collection also includes dupattas, fabrics, fine woollen shawls and scarves. Also, evoking the theme is an exhibition of paintings by select artists, organised in association with Apparao Galleries, which is on till January 20. The Rehwa Society was founded by the Holkar family as a non-profit trust for the uplift of women weavers living in and around the Ahilya Fort. The earnings from the weaving centres go towards the education trust that supports the families of the weavers.
