Back Call for voluntary compliance of service tax

MR Onkar Nath, Chief Commissioner of Customs and Central Excise (Hyderabad), has called for voluntary compliance of service tax by all service providers.

Addressing an interactive session on service tax with members of the Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry here on Monday, he said service providers were not forthcoming when it came to complying with it despite huge campaign to bring awareness on the subject. He asked Government organisations to set a example by complying with tax laws.

He assured the trade and industry that the department would take steps to ensure smooth implementation of service tax provisions, without leaving scope for harassment or inconvenience.
