Back Commerce Ministry presents Rs 1.05 cr to PM for tsunami relief

THE Union Commerce and Industry Minister, Mr Kamal Nath, on Monday presented a cheque for Rs 1.05 crore to the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, towards the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF).

This contribution has come from the public sector undertakings under the Commerce Ministry for the relief and rehabilitation of tsunami victims.

While State Trading Corporation of India Ltd, MMTC Ltd and Project and Equipment Corporation Ltd have contributed Rs 25 lakh each, the Export Credit Guarantee Corporation (ECGC) Ltd has contributed Rs 30 lakh.

An official release said that the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) has also contributed Rs 51 lakh to the PMNRF for this purpose.
