Back Tata Institute to compile data on tsunami-hit loss Our Correspondent
Madurai , Jan. 11 THE Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, will be making a scientific assessment of the damage caused in terms of loss of lives and materials by the tsunami in the coastal districts of the State, to generate data and make them available to international aid agencies to carry out relief work. The exercise to be carried out in association with the international non-government agencies, has been planned to be carried out from January 15. At a meeting of the faculty and students of the Social Work Department of 11 affiliated colleges of Bharathidasan University, Rev. Joseph Xavier, Faculty, said TISS has gained expertise in the exercise following the earthquake at Latur and Bhuj and the Bhopal gas leak tragedy.
