Back IMA disaster management cells

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State unit of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) will set up its own permanent disaster management cells at the State and district-levels.

IMA volunteers trained exhaustively in disaster management and emergency medical response will man these cells, according to Dr P.K. Mohammed Rasheed, State Secretary. He said this while addressing newspersons along with the 15-member IMA team that returned from the tsunami relief camps in the Andaman Islands.

The IMA is also setting up a State President's Disaster Relief Fund to create a corpus for future disaster relief works.
