Back Xenitis Info in manufacturing tie-up with Chinese co

XENITIS Infotech Pvt Ltd, which manufactures and markets personal computers under the `Aamar PC' and `Aamchi PC' brand names, has forged a joint venture with Unitek Computer Company of Shenzhen, China, to manufacture computer hardware, DVDs and home theatre units in Hooghly district of West Bengal.

The Indian partner holds 70 per cent of the equity stake in the joint venture , while the balance is held by the Chinese company. Besides taking up equity in the joint venture company (christened Xenitis Unitek Worldwide), the Chinese partner will also provide the technical know-how for the manufacturing facility, which is expected to entail an investment of Rs 250 crore in three phases.

The money required for setting up the project will be raised by way of equity capital and debt. About 2,000 people will be engaged in the proposed facility in Hooghly.

According to Mr Santanu Ghosh, Director of the Xenitis Group, the proposed facility is expected to be operational within the next three months. It will manufacture computer cases, keyboards, mouse units, power supply equipment, DVDs and home theatre units.
