BELGAUM, JAN. 13. A bag containing Rs. 6.60 lakhs belonging to M.K. Hubli Sugar Factory was stolen from the Maruti Galli branch of Syndicate Bank here on Thursday. According to the Additional Superintendent of Police, S.K. Hegde, a few staff members of the factory came in a vehicle to the bank at about 1.30 p.m. to withdraw cash. But only Basavaraj Rudrappa Majgi, a clerk in the factory and M.R. Makandar, a peon, went into the bank while the others went elsewhere. After withdrawing the cash, Mr. Majgi and Mr. Makandar, went to have tea and left the bag with the bank's security guard, John. They did not find the cash bag when they returned. The Khadebazaar police are investigating.
