Back YSR okays Rs 616-cr job plan for youth Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Jan. 16 THE Chief Minister, Dr Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, has endorsed a Rs 616-crore proposal for providing employment to one lakh youth during 2005-06. Reviewing the State Government's `Rajiv Yuva Shakti' programme with the Minister for Youth Services, Mr Harish Rao, and senior officials on Saturday, the Chief Minister also decided to provide Rs 2.5 crore for establishing 1,000 mini-gymnasia in selected Government high schools and junior colleges at a mandal-level across the State. An additional sum of Rs 2.3 crore was also proposed for taking up youth welfare activities in each district. The Chief Minister agreed to provide Rs 50 lakh for repairing and renovating the Commissionerate of Youth Services building. In the current fiscal, the State Government had earmarked an outlay of Rs 324 crore for providing employment to youth. The officials informed the Chief Minister that they have received 4.36 applications from youngsters for establishing 30,000 units. Out of these, 18,479 applications were so far cleared by banks at the mandal-level in 22 districts, involving an investment of Rs 136.10 crore. It was also programmed to ground 6,000 business units on January 26.
