THE Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, will inaugurate the `Indian CEOs-Competencies for Success' summit here on Saturday. The summit, which is being organised by Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) and the Hay Group in collaboration with SCOPE, FICCI and CII, will also see release the monograph of the study on the occasion.

PESB, BPCL and the Hay Group have concluded this research for 18 months to evaluate the core competencies of a successful CEO in India. The initial focus of this study was on public sector leaders, but then it was broadened to include entire spectrum of large Indian businesses, according to a FICCI release.

To facilitate this study, prominent Indian business leaders were interviewed and their competencies were mapped. Also, the competencies of Indian CEOs were benchmarked against CEOs in other international organisations. The aim of the summit is to share the model and its findings with the wider community in order to determine how India can reap `maximum benefits' from the study.

The Finance Minister, Mr P. Chidambaram, will deliver the valedictory address at the summit.
