Nizamabad-Secunderabad rail line to be opened on February 7

NIZAMABAD, JAN. 21. The Nizamabad-Secunderabad broad gauge railway line is all set to be opened by the Minister of State for Railways, R. Velu, when he inaugurates the line by flagging off a train here on February 7, said the Nizamabad MP, Madhu Goud Yaskhi.

The Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, his Ministers, elected representatives and senior officials of the Railway Ministry are expected to attend the inauguration, according to Mr Goud. Initially, a single train will run between Nizamabad and Secunderabad on an experimental basis. After six months, more trains will be run. Details of the trains to be run on the route will be announced on February 1.

Meets SCR GM

Addressing a press conference at the railway station here on Friday, Mr Goud said he had a meeting with the General Manager, South Central Railway, Mr. Stanley Babu, yesterday to discuss inauguration of the new railway line and other demands of the people regarding construction of level crossings and running of trains.

Mr. Madhu Goud, earlier in the day, along with the Chief Administrative Officer (Construction), K.S. Sarma, the Chief Electrical Distribution Engineer, Solan Gupta, the Chief Signal and Telecom Engineer, E.S. Vinode Kumar, the Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Gopinath, and the Deputy Chief Engineer, A.K. Khandelwal, observed the railway track from Kamareddy to Nizamabad.

At Bibipur tanda in Dichpally mandal, local people apprised the visiting officials of the need for the construction of either a manned or an unmanned level crossing near their hamlet since it was a junction for seven surrounding villages.

Model station

The MP said the Government was spending Rs.4 crores for upgradation of the station here and it would become a model.
