Oil spills as tanker overturns

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD, JAN. 21. A truck carrying sunflower oil overturned after its driver lost control of the vehicle and hit the road divider under the Golconda police limits on Friday. Following this, hundreds of litres of oil spilled over the road due to which some two-wheelers skidded on the road. Luckily, none was injured seriously.

It was around 6 a.m. when the truck was passing by Rahul Colony in Tolichowki. Suddenly, one auto-rickshaw came in front of the truck. While trying to avoid hitting it, the driver lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the road driver which resulted in the truck overturning.

Long clean-up job

As a result, the oil, worth over Rs. 4 lakhs spilled across the road giving a tough time to motorists passing by. Some fell down, but escaped with minor injuries. However, as it was early in the morning, there were not many motorists on the road. It took several hours for the authorities to clean the oil from the road. The truck had started at Sholapur in Maharashtra and was on its way to Bahadurpura in the city.
