Back Buddhist conclave in Guntur

Our Bureau

HYDERABAD: About two lakh Buddhists from all over the world will gather at the popular Buddhist site Amaravathi, near Guntur, early next year.

Dalai Lama, the Tibetan Buddhist leader, will arrive in the State some six weeks ahead of the conclave `Kala Chakra,' a not-so-regular Buddhist gathering.

Announcing this here on Monday, Ms J. Geeta Reddy, Minister for Tourism and Sugar, said the Lama's office had been in touch with the Andhra Pradesh Government with regard to holding the conference. The conference is expected to boost Government's plan to evolve and promote a Buddhist circuit in the State.
