Jewels, cash stolen

CHENNAI, JAN. 26. Gold jewellery weighing 30 sovereigns and Rs. 10,000 in cash were reported stolen from an engineer's house in Lakshmi Puram near Kalakshetra Colony on Wednesday.

Police said Muralidharan, employed in a firm in Thiruvallur, filed a complaint saying he saw a person escaping from the balcony of his first floor residence while returning home from night duty early Monday. The complainant said the burglar had gained entry through the back door and had taken away gold jewels and the cash from an almirah in the room adjoining the balcony.
