HYDERABAD, JAN. 27. The State Government will soon announce a comprehensive package to protect the interests of handloom weavers, said the State Finance Minister, K.Rosaiah, here on Thursday. After inaugurating the Silkfab-2005 exhibition-cum-sale at the Satyasai Nigamagamam where handloom weavers from 12 silk producing States are displaying handwoven silk sarees and dress material, he said that though it was heartening that Pochampally, an exclusive handloom tradition of the State was patented, handloom weavers were still facing problems. One of them is from powerloom made Pochampally varieties on a mass scale and at cheaper price.
