BANGALORE, JAN. 27. The Mayor, R. Narayanaswamy, on Thursday ordered that the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) Assistant Engineer in-charge of maintaining the Ulsoor lake, Himachala, be placed under suspension in connection with the fish kill reported in the lake on Wednesday. After visiting the lake, the Mayor said stringent action would be initiated against the jurisdictional officials. He directed the BMP Commissioner, K. Jothiramalingam, to issue show-cause notice to the Bharatinagar Medical Officer of Health, J. Savitha, for having failed to maintain hygienic conditions in the Ulsoor swimming pool. The Mayor asked the Commissioner to conduct a detailed inquiry to find out the cause of the mass fish kill. The BMP Joint Commissioner (East), N. Jayaram, the Chief Health Officer, C.H. Nagarabett, the Chief Horticulture Officer, Narayanaswamy, and other officials accompanied the Mayor.
