Arrested for making fake adhesives

NEW DELHI, JAN. 27. Two persons allegedly manufacturing and selling duplicate chemical adhesives were arrested by the Special Staff of the South-West Delhi police on January 24. Duplicate goods and equipment worth crores of rupees were recovered during the operation.

Mukul Chand, the managing director of Simpac Adhesives India Pvt. Limited, lodged a complaint with the police alleging that some people were supplying duplicates of the adhesive with brand name "Bond All" being manufactured by his company for the past several months.

During inquiry with dealers to whom the product was being supplied by the company, the Special Staff on January 24 came to know that one Feroze Anwar and his accomplice, Vineet Uppal, were supplying the spurious material in the Satya Niketan Market at Nanakpura. Acting on the tip-off, a team comprising Sub-Inspectors Ravinder Kumar Tyagi and Raj Kumar laid a trap near Vanketaswara College, intercepted the Santro car in which they were moving and arrested them.

The police recovered duplicate adhesives worth lakhs of rupees from the vehicle. At the instance of the accused, the police conducted raids in their godown-cum-factory at Patparganj Industrial Area and seized manufacturing and printing machines and packing material from there.

A huge cache of finished and semi-finished adhesive material of various companies namely Alteco-Ace of Japan, Alteco-Singapore, Fevi Kwik of Pidilite, Bond All, Magic Bond, Fast Bond, Star Bond, Top Bond including other chemicals reportedly imported from Singapore were also recovered.

The police mounted raid at another godown of Feroze at Vishwas Nagar in Shahdara and recovered four more moulding machines along with dyes of various companies and other material.

During interrogation, Feroze disclosed that he began the business of moulding plastic bottles at Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh in 1987 and used to supply these in Delhi.

In 1995, he got a contract for manufacturing plastic bottles for Simpac Adhesives and shifted his base to the Capital.

In August last, Vineet came in contact with him and both planned to set up a factory for duplicate adhesives to make a quick buck.
