Back Bank of India mulls branches in China, SAARC region

BANK of India is now contemplating to upgrade its representative offices in China and SAARC countries. (It has 19 branches outside India and three representative offices.)

The bank's Executive Director, Mr M. Balachandran, said that its representative office in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam at Ho Chi Minh City; Shenzhen in the Peoples Republic of China; and at Tanzania would soon be upgraded into a branch.

In its home ground, the bank has sought the apex bank's permission for expanding its network by adding at least 50 more branches.

Taking advantage of its presence across the globe, the bank launched the Export Gold Card,about three months back to provide easy credit to the exporting community. It has 2,500 Export Gold Card members at present.

The bank introduced the card in Tirupur on Monday.
