Back Cement majors post higher shipments in Jan

CEMENT majors have reported a modest increase in shipment and production figures for January.

Associated Cement Companies has reported a 7.6 per cent increase in dispatches, year-on-year for the month of January, at 15.05 lakh tonnes, against 13.98 lakh tonnes in January 2004. Production volumes rose 5.2 per cent, to touch 14.94 lakh tonnes (14.2 lakh tonnes).

The Ambuja group has reported a 8 per cent increase in despatches at 12.57 lakh tonnes. (11.63 lakh tonnes).

Production rose 5 per cent to touch 12.52 lakh tonnes (11.87 lakh tonnes).

The Aditya Birla group has reported that cementdespatches rose 6.15 per cent for the month, amounting to 24.24 lakh tonnes. Clinker despatches stood at 1.05 lakh tonnes.

Of this Grasim cement accounted for 12.06 lakh tonnes and UltraTech cement for 12.18 lakh tonnes.

Group production rose 6.94 per cent to 24.48 lakh tonnes. Production at Grasim cement amounted to 12.14 lakh tonnes, and at UltraTech cement, 12.34 lakh tonnes.
