KURNOOL, FEB. 3. The Andhra Pradesh Private Educational Institutions Management's Association has urged the Government to take up reforms in the tenth class examination system to make it more transparent. Talking to reporters here on Thursday, the association president, V. Janardhan Reddy, and the joint secretary, V. Krishna Murthy, said Xerox copies of answer scripts should be supplied on payment so that students would know the reasons for poor scoring. The system was implemented by the Intermediate Board.
Grading system
Mr. Janardhan Reddy said the SSC Board should also introduce grading system similar to the system adopted by the CBSE, and coding system should be adopted for answer scripts. He said the answer scripts of top ten rankers should be displayed online so that others would know the reasons for their high scoring. They suggested that the scripts of students who scored above 95 per cent marks be scrutinised to cross-check the evaluation. The association members wanted the Government to introduce aggregate pass marks system so that the student would get promoted to the next class despite low score in one subject. This would help avoid dropout. The association requested the authorities to consult senior educationists in the State before reducing the papers to six from 11. They also wanted the Government to post students of aided and Government schools to private schools for taking the examination. The association members said summer vacation should be given from March-end to May and half-day schools conducted in June as this would help educational institutions overcome power and water shortage. They wanted the District Educational Officer be allowed to make minor correction in the SSC marks certificates and give recognition for five years at a time and permanent recognition for ten years for private schools. The association decided to formally represent to the Government on the issues.
