All-India whips' conference begins today

HYDERABAD, FEB. 3. The 13th All-India Whips Conference is being held on Friday and Saturday at Dr. MCR HRD Institute here.

The Vice-President, Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, will inaugurate it on Friday at 11 a.m. It will be attended by 92 delegates from all over the country and presided over by the Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Ghulam Nabi Azad.

The Defence Minister, Pranab Mukherjee, will address the inaugural session, which will be followed by a plenary session. Briefing the press on the meeting taking place for the first time in the State, Mohan Kanda, chief secretary; V.K. Agnihotri, secretary, Union Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs; and Tuljanand Singh, Legislature secretary said the valedictory function would be addressed by the Lok Sabha Speaker, Somnath Chatterjee.
