HYDERABAD, FEB. 3. Four persons including a delivery boy of a courier service company were arrested on the charge of stealing six credit cards and pilfering nearly Rs. 2.40 lakhs using them.

According to the police, the Assistant Manager of the courier service, Ramana, complained that three credit cards were stolen from their service centre in December and suspected the involvement of the delivery boy, Akbar.

Even as the investigation was on, Mr. Ramana told the police that three more cards were missing. Standard Chartered Bank informed Mr. Ramana that the cards had not reached their owners, but were being used by someone else.

Meanwhile, the police interrogated Akbar who confessed to stealing the cards and passing them on to his friend Mir Hyder Ali. When Ali was questioned he revealed that he had given the cards to his friends -- Mahmood, Sadullah and Md. Aslam. The three went on a shopping spree buying electronic goods and cell phones and even withdrew cash using the cards. Mahmood is reportedly absconding.

The police seized two colour TVs, a VCD player, four cell phones and a gold chain, according to a press release.
