Back Labour Minister meets PM on EPF rate issue

THE Labour Minister, Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao, has met the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, to discuss the issue of increasing the interest rate on provident fund deposits.

Mr Rao informed reporters after the meeting that the Prime Minister had asked him to examine all possibilities by which the Employees Provident Fund Organisation would be able to arrange for the money on its own and, if not, how much can be arranged for.

The Prime Minister has also told the Labour Minister to report to him after the meeting of the Central Board of Trustees. The CBT is expected to meet on February 20 or 21, Mr Rao said.
