Renovated school opened at Parrys

CHENNAI, FEB. 7. The Madras West Round Table No. 10, under the Round Table India (RTI) theme `Freedom Through Education' has opened its third renovated school of the year, at Flower Bazaar in Parrys.

This is a joint project with the Rotary Club of Chennai, District 3230. The total cost of renovation was Rs. 4 lakhs and it was shared equally between the two non-governmental organisations.

Over 150 children from the Parrys area would benefit by the renovation.

Classrooms, dormitory, toilets and kitchens have been renovated and a new borewell has been commissioned.

Justice Kulasekharan of the Madras High Court inaugurated the school in the presence of the Rotary district governor, Benjamin Cherian, and the RTI vice-president-elect, Shiv Kumar Eashwaran, and the RTI Area-2 chairman, Linesh Sanath Kumar.

Earlier this year, both the NGOs signed memorandum of understanding.

This is the eighth school renovated/constructed under this partnership.

A sum of Rs. 25 lakhs has been spent so far and more schools will be inaugurated by June.
