Partly cloudy

CHENNAI, FEB. 7. The sky will be partly cloudy on Tuesday and the minimum temperature is expected to be around 20 degrees Celsius. On Monday, the maximum temperature at Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam was 30.1 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature at the two stations was 20.4 and 20.0 degrees Celsius. The humidity was 70 and 63 per cent.

Power cut

Power will be suspended in parts of Egmore, Mambalam and Flower Bazaar between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. for maintenance work.

Eye camp

Singhvi Charitable Trust conducted an eye camp at St. Joseph's Girls' Hr. Sec. School, Choolai for over 35 students, and 178 glasses will be distributed to the students in a couple of weeks. Two cases were referred to Sankara Nethralaya for surgery.

Blood camp

Lions Club of Keelkattalai organised a health camp and a blood donation camp at Supraa Medicare Centre. Seventy-three units of blood were collected.

Cash award

R. Meenakshi of Presidency College was awarded a cash award of Rs. 25,000, instituted by the C.C. Ganapathy Foundation. The Economics Association of the college and the award presentation function was held on February 2. Dean of Vel's college, P. Govindarajan, gave a special lecture on `Globalisation and its impact on poverty' on the occasion.

Workshops
