By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD, FEB. 10. The CPI State Secretary, Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy, accepted that he was keen to be relieved of the post "as the work strain of party leadership and responsibilities of an MP were getting too much."

Mr. Reddy, who is the Nalgonda MP, was re-elected Secretary of the State unit of the CPI at the party's 22nd State Conference at Nalgonda on Wednesday night. He however, rejected any discord over the election of the secretary's post. "We are sorry to disappoint those who expected a big fight," he said and added that all the office-bearers were elected unanimously.

He was responding to media reports of serious differences in the CPI State unit over the Secretary's post. It was reported that the former MLA, Puvvada Nageswara Rao, had opposed the name of

K. Narayana for State Secretary. Dr. Narayana has been re-elected Assistant State Secretary.

"During discussions, some names did come up but the interpretations given in the media are totally incorrect," he said and added that it was the collective opinion of the party that he continue in the post for another term.
