Man murdered

An autorickshaw driver, G. Ashok (27), was reportedly done to death by five persons under the Kukatpally police station limits on Thursday. It was learnt that five persons -- Ramulu, Laxmi, Anjamma, V. Laxmi and K. Saibaba -- took Ashok from his house at Yellambanda on Wednesday night and beat him to death. The motive behind the incident is yet to be ascertained.

Two held; ID liquor seized

Sleuths of the Central Zone Task Force team nabbed two persons who were found transporting illicitly distilled liquor on Wednesday. The accused were Pawan Singh of Mangalhat and Suresh Singh of Karwan. The police seized three rubber tubes containing 40 litres of ID liquor.

Two arrested with jewellery

Two persons -- Pandith and Bheem -- who were allegedly responsible for house-breaking offences were arrested by the Humayun Nagar police. Both are rag pickers and residents of Afzalsagar. The police recovered over 50 tolas gold ornaments and other stolen property at their instance.

Dies in freak mishap

A lorry cleaner, K. Arjun (20) of Mahabubnagar, died after he came under the water tanker, which overturned at Madhapur on Wednesday.

Three Intermediate students were among the four persons arrested by the Marredpally police on the charge of lifting vehicles. Three motorcycles and some vehicle parts, worth Rs. 1.5 lakhs, were recovered from them.

Financier nabbed

As part of the drive against private financiers, the Mirchowk police arrested Mohammed Amanuddin of Hussaini Alam on Thursday. The police seized Rs. 58, 200 from him.
