By Our Staff Reporter

BANGALORE, FEB. 10. The Lokayukta, N. Venkatachala, on Thursday issued a show-cause notice to the principal of the Government Unani College asking why contempt proceedings should not be initiated against him for making derogatory remarks against the Lokayukta.

Mr. Venkatachala issued the notice after the students of the college reported to him about the remarks made by Mohammed Mujeebur Rehman, the principal of the college, before them. Some 20 students called on the Lokayukta today.

Mr. Venkatachala has directed Mr. Rehman to appear before him on Monday at 11 a.m.

The students told the Lokayukta that Mr. Rehman came to the college in the morning and took some documents in a vehicle.

The Lokayukta police arrested Mr. Rehman on Monday night on charges of accepting Rs. 30,000 from a student for granting more marks in the examination. Mr. Rehman, the students alleged, threatened action against the students who complained to Lokayukta on Wednesday charging him to have accepted bribes.
