Manmohan arriving today

BANGALORE, FEB. 10. The State Government has decided to utilise the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh's first visit to the State after coming to power to press for Central clearance for the various projects and issues such as the Bangalore Metro Rail system and according classical status to Kannada.

Dr. Singh will arrive here at 3.30 p.m. on Friday. He will visit Mysore to fulfil some engagements.

After his arrival, he will leave for the Vidhana Soudha to witness an audio-visual presentation on the proposed Bangalore International Airport project. The Chief Minister, N. Dharam Singh, the Deputy Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, and all the Cabinet ministers will attend the presentation.

Before leaving for New Delhi on Saturday, Dr. Singh will address a formal press conference at the Helicopter Division of Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. It is stated to be the first time a Prime Minister is addressing a formal press conference in Bangalore.
