CBI raid on DIG's properties

HYDERABAD, FEB. 11. Officials of the Central Bureau of Investigation conducted raids on the premises belonging to a Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Hyderabad on Friday. The raids were conducted after the officer was charged with possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Assets acquired

According to a CBI press release, the 1983 batch IPS officer of Manipur-Tripura cadre had acquired assets worth about Rs. 1.07 crore including a three-storey house in Banjara Hills, a four-storey house in Jubilee Hills, four flats (two in Somajiguda, one in Ameerpet and one in Begumpet), a house in Vanasthalipuram Residential Complex, 12 acres of farm land in Ranga Reddy district and three plots (two in Banjara Hills and one in Jubilee Hills).

Three different properties of the official are being searched in Hyderabad. As many as 16 bank accounts, three locker keys and incriminating documents have been unearthed during the searches. The lockers are yet to be opened.

A case was booked against him under section 13(2) r/w 13(1) (e) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The officer was till last week posted as DIG, CRPF Group Centre, Hyderabad and is presently under orders of transfer.
