THE Czech Republic has shown interest in showcasing its environment-friendly technologies at the CII-Sohrabji Green Business Centre (CII-GBC) at Madhapur near here.

The country's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Mr Milan Simonovsky, told Business Line that his country would co-operate with Indian companies in providing world-class products. "Our products and technologies are world class, yet they are far cheaper," he said. Mr Simonovsky, leading a high-level delegation, visited the centre to have a feel of the LEED-rated (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) green business centre, promoted by the Confederation of Indian Industry.

"It (the GBC) is very interesting. A host of energy-efficient and environment-friendly technologies are concentrated in a small area," he said, commenting on the GBC. The Senior Director and Head of the GBC, Mr Raghupathy, explained to the Czech delegation various aspects of the centre. "Though project cost increases by 20-25 per cent than that of a normal building, maintenance cost would fall down significantly," he said, adding that the payback (on the extra spending) period is just 3-4 years.
