Opinion - Letters to the Editor

To what end?

Sir, — This has reference to the article, "Justice as self-purification" (Feb. 17). The Nanavati Commission was instituted by the NDA Government in 2000, 16 years after the occurrence of the anti-Sikh riots in the wake of Indira Gandhi's assassination. That its report will contain great revelations after almost 20 years, in the course of which most of the witnesses have either died, given up hope or have been won over by the accused is expecting the impossible. Even, assuming an action taken report is tabled, can it bring a smile to the faces of the people who not only suffered during the riots but have done so all these years?
