The prices of imported rice have gone up by Rs 200 per quintal in the State. The prices that ruled at Rs 1,100 to 1,200 per quintal have gone up to Rs 1,300 to 1,400. The failure to process stored grains on time and large-scale imports from northern States after the April-May harvest have contributed to the price rise. Popular brands such as Jaya and Surekha now cost Rs 14 to 15 a kg.
