Judge seeks details of who the advocates met

By Our Staff Reporter

CHENNAI, FEB. 23. The Madras High Court has sought to know the details of the prisoners whom two women advocates met in the Kancheepuram sub-jail.

The two women advocates have been accused of intimidating the approver, Ravi Subramaniam, in the Sankararaman murder case.

Justice M. Thanikachalam, hearing the Kanchi Sankaracharya, Sri Jayendra Saraswathi's anticipatory bail application, also wanted to know whether the advocates — Revathi Vasudevan and Nadira Banu — met the prisoners with permission from the jail authorities.

He then adjourned the matter to February 25 for further hearing.

When the Acharya's counsel, K.S. Dinakaran, said the police did not take any action on Ravi Subramaniam's complaint but registered an FIR on the complaint of his wife, the Judge asked: "What is wrong with that? When no action was taken on his complaint to the Magistrate, his wife preferred the present complaint."
