Two get life sentence

BELLARY, FEB. 24. N.B.Kulkarni, Additional District and Sessions Judge, Bellary, while convicting Kasimsab and Mohammed for attempt to murder, sentenced them to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 1,000 each.

Kasimsab and Mohammed stabbed Marenna, who belongs to Scheduled Tribes, on September 22, 2002 at Kariganur, near Hospet, to take revenge for the insulting remarks made against them by the latter in connection with theft of sheep. The Hospet (Rural) police had registered a case. Bheem Reddy, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Hospet sub-division investigated the case and filed the chargesheet.
