Students told to uphold moral values

BELLARY, FEB. 24. Pankaj Kumar Thakur, Superintendent of Police, exhorted students to lead a disciplined life and uphold moral values.

Addressing the students at the annual day celebrations of Veerashaiva College here on Wednesday, Mr. Thakur said that deviation from a disciplined way of life has given scope for increase in obscenity and crime in society.

G. Pompanagowda, president of Veerashaiva Vidyavardhak Sangha, which runs a chain of educational institutions in the district, called upon the students to strive hard and develop the skills required to face challenges in the competitive world.

Shailaja Thakur, gave away prizes to the meritorious students and winners of various sports events. Kolur Basavanagowda, former MP and former president of the sangha, spoke.

Jantkallu Veerbhadrappa, chairman of the College Governing Council; Allum Basavaraj, Palled Pompapathi, and Havinahal Sharanappa, sangha's office bearers; and N.P. Linganagowda, principal, were present.
