Keep feuding families away from politics: CPI

ANANTAPUR, FEB. 24. The Communist Party of India (CPI) has alleged that the ruling Congress and the Opposition TDP have been trying to colour the feuding between the two families of Gangula and Paritala as problem of the district by encouraging them to be in active politics.

Talking to newspersons here on Thursday, the district secretary of the party, M.V. Ramana, said if the two parties were sincere in bringing back peace and development to the district they should keep the two families away from active politics and should deny party ticket to G. Bhanumati or to P. Sunita or their other family members.

He said Ms. Bhanumati had, while speaking to a section of the media at Maddelacheruvu village on Wednesday, made clear her intention of continuing in active politics.

Ms. Sunita had also spoken to mediapersons at Venkatapuram giving indication of her intention to enter active politics, he said.

Political heirs

There could be heirs to property every where but in politics heirs could be seen only in India, Mr. Ramana said. Even if heirs entered politics in other countries it would be only after spending considerable time in public life, he said.

He alleged that both Congress and TDP were trying to benefit by baptising faction leaders into active politics in the district.

He, however, felt that necessary security should be provided to Ms. Sunita and her family members by the Government.

The CPI leader requested the media to play a proactive and responsible role in cleansing politics of factionalism.

He urged the media not to reflect provocative utterances even if such words were used.
