Subsidy release for SSIs in 45 days

BANGALORE, FEB. 24. The Minister for Industries, P.G.R. Sindhia, on Thursday said the Government would release Rs. 65 crores subsidy to small and medium-scale industries within 45 days.

Inaugurating a function to celebrate Printers' Day organised by the Karnataka State Printers Association (KSPA) and the Karnataka Offset Printers Association (KOPA) here, he said the burden of loans of many of the small and medium-scale industries would come down with the release of the subsidy.

He hoped the Deputy Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, would sanction additional subsidy for this sector in the budget.

Printing park

He said the Government was acquiring 100 hectares of land for setting up a printing park. The process was almost over but for the payment compensation to farmers who owned the lands.

All those owing letterpresses and offset printing presses in the city would be housed in the proposed park, he said.

The Government would assist the printing press owners who wish to train their printers abroad.
