HYDERABAD, FEB. 24. The son of a pawnbroker Megharaj, 22, was attacked by three persons at their shop in Karmikanagar in Jubilee Hills. Two history-sheeters -- K. Srinu alias Pichchi Srinu and his brother, K. Laxman -- along with another person, allegedly hurled chilli powder on Meghraj's face and stabbed him indiscriminately with knives and fled after some passers-by raised an alarm. Megharaj was rushed to Gandhi Hospital, where his condition was said to critical. The Banjara Hills ACP, K. Muralidhar Rao, said Srinu and Laxman assaulted Megharaj's father last December when the latter refused to pay Rs. 10,000 they had demanded.
