Back GoM to take up draft food Bill on Feb 28 Our Bureau
New Delhi , Feb. 25 THE Ministry of Food Processing Industries will put up the draft Integrated Food Bill for the consideration of Group of Ministers (GoM) on February 28, according to the Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Mr A.N.P. Sinha. Presiding over an interactive session on draft Integrated Food Law, organised by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Assocham), Mr Sinha said the GoM will then meet on March 10 to clear the draft Bill for introduction in Parliament. The provisions incorporated include empowering the Food Authority of India to frame standards and prescriptions to regulate the food processing industry. " In case of food laws violations, the commissioner rank officer has only been authorised to initiate legal action based on the feedback received by him from the competent authorities.
