Seven booked under SC, ST Act

A case was booked under the Prevention of Atrocities against Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Act against seven persons on charge of abusing and beating up a person, Ch. Raju (28) in the name of caste.

A resident of Vinayaknagar locality in Golconda, Raju, alleged that six persons --Anand, Raju, Ramesh, Dasu, Shiva and Tikka of the same locality, intercepted him while he was returning home on Wednesday night. They allegedly questioned him as to why he had built a house near the temple and abused him in the name of caste and thrashed him, the Golconda police said.

Court worker duped

Three unidentified persons claiming to be policemen relieved a court employee of six gold finger rings and Rs. 2,795 by diverting his attention near Secunderabad MCH office on Wednesday. Ramlal, bench clerk of 7th Metropolitan Magistrate court was going to the Andhra Pradesh Judicial Academy on foot when the trio intercepted him.

Molestation charge

A police constable allegedly attempted to molest a student, who was on a relay hunger strike along with four other girls protesting against closure of a private hostel at I.S. Sadan in Madannapet police station area on Wednesday night. One of the girls alleged that a constable of the Andhra Pradesh Special Police, posted at the tent, attempted to molest her.
